Kauri Canopy proposes an intervention that acts as a liminal space, a transitional threshold linking the past, present and future of the Kauri forest. A combination of layering, blurring and framing transform the occupants perception of space as they move through the folly—presenting new, unexpected relationships to the Blackwood Dam site.

As sunlight passes through the existing trees on site, their shadows are captured by the fabric, painting the surface with dappled light. Temporal qualities of the Kauri forest are shown through this light, engaging visitors year round as the shadows transform throughout the seasons.
